28 members joined together at 6:30 to enjoy a wonderful potato soup and meal, prepared by Jody and Rick Bails and Jeanette Roberts, with dessert provided by Gil and Lee Ann Smith.
Our new Worthy Matron, Cindy Pience, led the chapter in an excellent opening. We were delighted that the new Esther, Taylor Johnson, was word perfect for her very first meeting as an officer, and as a whole, the opening was very well done for the first meeting following Installation. Cindy reminded us of her theme to Rejoice Always. She said that worries about tomorrow sap the joys of today, and that gratitude brings us joy.
The chapter was pleased to have our own PGM, Carol Kauffman, present, knowing she will be going to visit her daughter in CA shortly. Others present were District Vice President, Jody Bails and her aide, Rick Bails; Grand Chapter Historian, Marion Johnson; and Charities Director, Jeanne Godden. We are always pleased to recognize our Honored Masons, 50 year members and our Past Matrons and Patrons.
Resolutions of Respect for Phyllis Detwiler were read by Pennie Brown. She was a 74 year member.
Bill Instine, Worshipful Master of Blazing Star Lodge, asked if the chapter would be willing to serve the Inspection Dinner on January 24 at 6:00. We agreed to do so, and will discuss details as the event gets closer.
Congratulations to Suzanne Dick, who won first place in the ritual competition for Conductress, and they are pleased with the beautiful painting she received.
Eric Dick came to the East to install those officers unable to attend our Installation due to a wedding conflict and illness. Teresa PIence served as the Installing Marshal. With these 5 officers installed, we now have a full corps. All names are listed at the beginning of this webpage.
Cindy thanked everyone for coming. Our December meeting is on the first! Wear festive clothing! We will have cookies to decorate and cards to prepare for residents at the OES Home.

About OES
Caroline Chapter #39, OES, is a subordinate chapter of Ohio Grand Chapter and the General Grand Chapter.
The Order of the Eastern Star is one of the largest fraternal organization to which both men and women may belong. It is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values, but it is not a religion. Its appeal rests in the true beauty of the refreshing and character-building lessons that are so sincerely portrayed in its ritualistic work. A deep fraternal bond exists between its members. It is the wholesome relationship of sisterly and brotherly love brought about through high principles exemplified in our lives which makes us near and dear to each other.

While this Order is composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open to all faiths, except no faith. The personal welfare of our members is vital to all of those in the Eastern Star and it is considered a privilege to help another member whenever we can.

The stated purposes of the organization are Charitable, Educational, Fraternal and Scientific, but there is much more to it than that. Dr. Rob Morris, the Poet Laureate of Masonry, founded the Order using beautiful and inspiring biblical examples of heroic conduct and moral values. These portray the noble principles which should adorn the personal lives of Eastern Star members. Eastern Star strives to take good people and through uplifting and elevating associations of love and service, and through precept and example, build an Order which is truly dedicated to Charity, Truth and Loving Kindness.
